According to the 24Kurier.pl online service of "Kurier Szczeciński", the Italian company Saipem, leader of the consortium building the LNG terminal in Świnoujście requested another annex to the contract and additional funds for the completion of the construction works on the LNG terminal. In case of refusal, the company was supposed to threaten to discontinue the works.
According to the recent information, the investment is to be completed at the turn of 2014 and 2015 and the terminal should be ready to receive commercial deliveries of gas in the middle of 2015.
As stated in the report prepared by the general contractor, i.e. the consortium led by the Italian company SAIPEM, the construction was completed in over 90.5 % in June. The construction works are being conducted in all areas of the terminal, both in the onshore and offshore sections.
At the moment one is performing water tests in LNG tanks, in which liquefied natural gas will be stored. In order to confirm the quality of the performed construction works and to check the behavior of the facilities under loading, one hundred thousand cubic meters of sea water is to be pumped into both tanks.
