Start-up phase of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście is approaching

28.08.2014

A press spokesman of the investor – Polskie LNG, Maciej Mazur in an interview for the economic portal wnp.pl has confirmed that the construction phase of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście should be completed at the turn of 2014-2015, so that it will be possible to initiate the start-up phase in the following months and prepare the terminal for commercial deliveries as early as in 2015.

The works are just a few percent away from completion, however they are the most difficult ones in various aspects. They include start-up attempts with the application of various raw materials, ranging form nitrogen to LNG. The above mentioned operation is divided into 650 minor systems and sub-systems. Each subsequent system must be completed before the next one can be started.

The construction costs of the terminal amount to PLN 3 billion, out of which PLN 2.4 billion is the value of the contract concluded with a consortium led by the Italian company SAIPEM. The company ENERGOMONTAŻ-POŁUDNIE KATOWICE Sp. z o.o. is responsible for the installation of the technical equipment in the facility on behalf of the above mentioned consortium (see EXPERIENCE).

The two tanks of the terminal should be able to receive up to 5 billion cubic metres of gas per year. One is also considering the construction of a third tank to increase the so-called re-gasification capacity of the terminal up to 7.5 billion cubic metres.
